Background & Brief

Following the purchase of a significant UK based Brewing business the client wished to consolidate and rationalise the Off Trade and Export logistics into its existing logistics network in order to drive logistics optimisation and simplification but also in readiness for going to market as one business across its portfolio of products. The client had a mix of in house & out sourced logistics operations.

Project Approach

  • SCALA project managed the end to end changes across the clients IS, Supply Chain planning, Finance, Logistics operations and Sales teams ensuring strong project governance and cross functional working
  • SCALA worked directly with the client’s 3rd party service providers which included the exit from one partner/site and the start up at another partner/site
  • The changed logistics arrangements included changes to service arrangements with major retailers and SCALA guided the client through these changes
  • SCALA provided “hyper care” management on project go live before handing over to the client’s business as usual teams
  • The project was successfully delivered within four months of initiation
  • Benefits & Results

    The client was able to reduce the number of stock holding and despatching DCs from six to five enabling simplification of inventory management and an annual cost efficiency of £400k pa. The project was a key stepping stone for a second business transformation project that enabled the client to move to one business and go to market as one supplier to its customer base in both Off Trade and On Trade sectors
