SCALA Powers Ahead With Growth Plans Following Further Senior Hire

SCALA, a leading provider of management services for the supply chain and logistics sector, is on track to reach its ambitious growth targets following the appointment of a new senior consultant.

Rob Wright has over 35 years’ of experience in supply chain and logistics management, having spent 29 of these years moving up the ranks at Pladis Global, formerly United Biscuits.

Previously the head of distribution for Pladis Global, Rob oversaw the company’s global logistics projects and network reviews across various regions. His expertise in third-party logistics and in-house operations saw him centralise Pladis’ transport and warehousing operations, and create a multi-award winning logistics system, which provides a unique fourth-party logistic service to other FMCG manufacturers.

Prior to taking up his new position, Rob had already been working closely with SCALA to develop its supply chain and logistics best practice forums and its benchmarking service. He has also been actively working with other forums and trade associations, such as the IGD and the Food and Drink Federation (FDF), to produce best practice guides on optimising logistics and environmental sustainability.

He will play a key role in helping SCALA to expand its services and drive the business forward, particularly focusing on its transport and distribution consultation offering within the grocery sector.

Over the past 12 months, the company has grown its management team fourfold with three senior appointments.

Rob Wright said: “Given that I have been engaging with SCALA on various projects for some time, it seemed the perfect step to join the team to help develop and broaden the business by sharing my knowledge and expertise.

“Over the many years I’ve operated within the logistics sector, I’ve been involved in some fantastic projects, and played a major role in helping my team to win 16 industry best practice awards over the last 10 years. I’m aiming to bring this winning success to SCALA so we can showcase just what the company has to offer and how it delivers the very best in supply chain and logistics services.”

John Perry, managing director of SCALA, said: “Rob has built one of the very best logistics operations in the grocery industry. His depth of knowledge and understanding of the industry will be of real benefit to many of our clients looking to develop their own and their 3PL’s logistics operations to achieve best in class to support their on-going business changes. 2018 is looking to be an incredibly exciting year for us and we’re thrilled to have Rob on board.”
