AB World Foods are Dutch Masters in Global Final

AB World Foods produced a sterling performance to claim silver in the global final of The Fresh Connection supply chain competition.

The company’s ‘Juiced in Time’ team flew the flag for the UK & Ireland in the final in Amsterdam and came a close second behind France’s Essilor Crizal.

The final saw teams compete against each other using The Cool Connection – a business simulation combining Physical and Financial Supply Chains.

AB World Foods – the company behind Patak’s, Blue Dragon and Levi Roots – only just missed out on the title, delivering a Return on Investment (ROI) that was 0.88% less than their French rivals.

The company’s strong performance validated SCALA Consulting’s decision to hold a training stage for all participating companies for the very first time.

SCALA Managing director John Perry said the aim was to improve the chances of a British team winning the global title.

“I am very pleased to be able to salute AB World Foods’ truly excellent result and the best performance yet by a British team,” he said.

The training stage prepared teams – including representatives from Collect+, Kimberly-Clark, Mondelez International, XPO Logistics and Unilever – to compete against more than 100 teams from across the globe.

The Fresh Connection is a global professional challenge in which teams have to turn around a failing juice manufacturing company by aligning corporate strategy with operational decision making.

The UK & Ireland event is sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the Food Storage and Distribution Federation and Toyota MHE.

Global Final ROI Results: 1) France (Essilor Crizal) 3.69%; 2) UK (AB World Foods) 2.81%; 3) Germany (Avery Dennison) 2.34%.
