
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and the Institute of Operations Management has joined forces with SCALA Consulting to endorse SCALA’s Fresh Connection competition and training courses in the UK.
Steve Agg, Chief Executive of the CILT, commented ‘The Institute is delighted to partner with SCALA on this exciting innovation. The Fresh Connection is an innovative programme for developing current and future managers at all levels in the industry and offers a unique platform to enable participants to extend their supply chain knowledge.’
SCALA’s Fresh Connection Grand Final event will take place on 13th of June alongside other events at the CILT Conference week at Marriott Forest of Arden. We’re expecting over 300 participants to battle it out to become the new 2012 Fresh Connection Champions.
Mars are the reigning 2011 UK Supply Chain Champions. The race is now on to see who will win the 2012 title in a more challenging and further enhanced simulation. Why don’t you join many of the major companies who have already signed up to invest in their staff through:

Linked with a number of members of the Forum SCALA have now completed the Annual supply chain benchmarking and are presenting and discussing the results with all the participating companies.
In addition to the range of quantified measures built over the years, SCALA have now added a graphical representation of each company’s supply chain profile. The profile highlights the strengths, weaknesses and trade-offs within each company and how these compare with other companies.

SCALA were proudly represented at the CIPD Annual Conference.
HR professionals from a wide range of companies were enthralled by the Fresh Connection’s capabilities for providing professional training and development programmes.
In a survey undertaken over the course of the conference, HR delegates were asked what they thought the most effective ways of learning were:- Listening and Seeing both appeared to be a learning method of the past gaining 7% of the vote each. Whereas experiencing, the method SCALA’s Fresh Connection uses, was the overruling winner gaining 86% of the vote.
Dean Starr and Sarah Mckeever worked hard from speed-meetings to Twitterversity, the pair took advantage of every opportunity making the event a great success – and attracted warm praise for the new approach – see pictures! Overall a fantastic start to get The Fresh Connection 2012 ball rolling.

SCALA are delighted to welcome Sarah Mckeever. Sarah is a recent BA graduate from the University of Leeds, and has joined us after undertaking marketing and events management with the University and Endsleigh.
Sarah will be working on the exciting new developments with Fresh Connection and a range of SCALA projects.
David Leach, appointed as Fresh Connection Manager
SCALA is delighted to welcome David Leach as Fresh Connection Manager. David brings a wealth of experience having lectured on logistics for the University of Huddersfield following a twelve year career within the third party logistics industry, working for companies such as Tibbett & Britten, Exel and Wincanton and with leading blue chip customers including IBM, Hewlett Packard, Gillette, Unilever, Sony, Boots and Tesco. David has held positions in a variety of operational, business development, financial and senior commercial roles.
Dean Starr, appointed as Technical Manager – Fresh Connection
SCALA is delighted to welcome Dean Starr as Technical Manager for the Fresh Connection. Dean has recently graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a 1st class BSc in Transport and Logistics Management for which he won CILT Student of the Year 2011 as well as the SwissLog Prize for Best Dissertation of 2011. Dean has held positions in Belgium and the UK with Johnson & Johnson working closely with value added service operations and late stage customisation projects. In addition he has competed as an international student finalist for the Fresh Connection Supply Chain Competition 2011.
