This leading manufacturer, with a turnover of £1.3bn had gone through some major reorganisation, with several management changes and the business needed a Supply Chain Strategy aligned to the business strategy and objectives.

The SCALA team undertook a detailed review of the:

  • - Proposed 'Outline Strategy' for the Supply Chain
  • - Current structures and processes being employed in the business
  • - Proposals made by 3PL's to assist in the management of the Supply Chain

SCALA also drew comparisons with 'Best in Class' Manufacturing and Supply Chain strategies.

The review resulted in:

- Detailed goals, objectives and timescales for the Supply Chain Strategy
- The current issues and blockages to future strategy
- Improved operational relationship between Manufacturing and Supply Chain management teams
- Improved forecasting, and the provision of a value-added service through VMI for major customers
- Challenges to the individual SKU cost / benefit
- Amendments to the physical structure of the Supply Chain
- Improved Contract KPI's focussing on qualitative improvements in Customer Services
- A change in approach to the various projects being implemented
